What can I possibly have that a battered woman would want? I do not know them. I do not know their problems. I cannot identify why they continue living with an abusive spouse. In such a scenario, what can I possibly do in charity that would help them feel better? Difficulty in identifying with the recipient of the charity is a common reason why people opt out of actual charity.

Despite having noble intentions, they invariably end up procrastinating or ignoring their own desire to do charity. Well, what is stopping you from logging on to the internet and knowing more about battered woman?

Is the presence of a good and fancy looking website sufficient proof that the charitable organization is trustworthy? Certainly not. Setting up a fancy looking website is not a difficult task. What matters is whether the charitable organization has uploaded useful information on the same.

If its objectives, activities and goals and resources have been explained in detail and if you have a clear idea of what the organization is all about after visiting its website, this should definitely rank in its favor.

On the other hand, if you can sense that the website has been designed more as a formality and less as a medium of providing information to the public, you should be careful and do extra research before you decide upon a charitable contribution to the organization.

Charitable organizations receive donations from hundreds and thousands of individuals in a single year. They are experts in helping people donate better. Many persons come with the right intentions but have a very wrong approach towards the process.

Giving Back With A Self Made Toy Drive

Sometimes giving to others is something that you forget to do. It’s never something you refuse to do, but rather it’s something that falls by the wayside during your busy life. However, during the holiday season you should be looking for ways to give back. It’s the time of year where you can really celebrate just how fortunate you are and it’s a time to remember that there are those out there who aren’t as lucky as you are.

If you are interested in giving back this holiday season there are a lot of things you can do to help out others. Here are a few of the things you can do.

The first is organize your own toy drive. This might seem like a lot of work but it can actually something that can be a lot of fun. You should collect toys, or cash for toys from friends and family. Ask for five or ten dollars a person. Certainly you will take more if they can give more. But you don’t have to have much.

With the money that you get you take it to the local toy store and start to stock up. Get smaller gifts and things that are one sale. Get toys that are good for just boys, just girls, and both. Once you do that you should have amassed quite a collection of toys. If you think about it you can talk to the manager and let him or her know that you are buying for a toy drive and they may be able to cut you a break.

Once you have the toys you should take them over to the local children’s hospital. There you can bring them to the kids on the floor who are spending the night in a hospital, many with very serious health conditions. This is great way to give back to those who are less fortunate.

Teaching Your Kids Giving In The Holiday Season

The holiday season is about spending time with you and your loved ones. It’s about giving to those who have less and it’s about taking the time to realized just how truly blessed you are to be alive and have the life you have. It’s something that everyone can understand and revel on. However, for many it is also a time to teach children a valuable lesson about what the true definition of charity is and how they can be a part of the giving season. Don’t waste this opportunity to build a person of substance, or someone who understands how to appreciate the gifts they have been given. Here are two ways to energize your child to giving during the holiday season.

The first thing to do is make them donate some of their toys. There are toy drives all over the country and they are always looking for new and used toys. Telling your child that you are going to ask them to give up toys for other kids will be a good start to the giving season. The trick is to make sure that the child gives up toys that they like and that they play with often. It’s a good example of what it truly means to sacrifice for someone else.

The next thing to do is to take them shopping for others. Taking them shopping for the toys for tots program is a great way to teach them a lesson about why the holidays are about giving. It’s important to make the trip all about the other kids. Buying your child toys while shopping for the less fortunate is not a good message to send. Make your child go without for that trip and make them involved in the toy buying experience.

These are just some ways to teach kids the importance of giving. It’s a valuable life lesson that will serve them well.
